This October, follow the OV Sea Hags on a journey through 250 years of Ocean View legends, lore and unforgettable history as the past comes alive along the Chesapeake Bay.
Created especially for Norfolk’s 250th anniversary, Ocean View Witch Walk: 250 Years of Legends & Lore is an original outdoor production blending historical storytelling, music, choreographed dance, theatrical movement and a little Sea Hag magic into one unforgettable evening.
The experience begins with a witchy procession into Ocean View Beach Park before unfolding beneath the evening sky, where stories from Ocean View’s remarkable past come alive through narration, music and dance.
🌪️ Feel the fury of the Great Tempest that helped create Willoughby Spit.
🧙‍♀️ Discover the story of Virginia’s legendary “Witch of Pungo,” Grace Sherwood.
⛓️ Remember 87 freedom seekers who made a daring escape toward British ships in the Chesapeake Bay in 1776.
đź‘» Hear tales of the legends and ghosts woven into Ocean View lore.
🎢 And travel through generations of storms, music, landmarks, amusement and memories that helped shape the Ocean View we know today.
But don’t expect an ordinary history lesson.
Each chapter comes alive with its own soundtrack, with music ranging from “Rock You Like a Hurricane” and “Riders on the Storm” to “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Ghostbusters,” “I’m Still Standing” and more.
And when 250 years of storytelling finally reaches the present day?
The OV Sea Hags take over. 🧹
Stay for a spirited finale featuring the broom dances that have become an Ocean View favorite, including our signature German broom dance, and maybe even a chance to join in the fun yourself.
